What are the Goals of the Council?

  • Founded in 1976, CfMA fosters the public awareness, concern, and responsibility for the conservation of archeological resources in Maryland.
  • Promoting research, preservation, and management of archeological resources in Maryland.
  • Encouraging public outreach and education in Maryland Archeology, such as Archeology Month.
  • Quarterly meetings serve as a forum for the exchange of information about Maryland archeology.
  • Coordinating lobbying efforts in support of legislation affecting Maryland archeology.
  • Establishing ethical and research standards for the conduct of archeology in Maryland.
